A recent article on the district website describes how IDE Corp. and the Toms River Regional Schools are continuing with a Learner-Active, Technology-Infused (LATIC) cohort in the high school this school year.
The article explains how LATIC “principles include empowering students to take ownership of their learning; cross-curricular units; pushing students’ thinking through collaboration and by building relationships; and encouraging instructors to cede some control of the classroom in the interest of student voice and choice”.
The work and efforts of teachers toward learning the LATIC structures and strategies inspired them “to pursue and ultimately win a Steelcase Education grant to remodel a classroom.”
