PLCs

PLCs (Professional Learning Communities) are less about what you do and more about who you are as an organization.

Early stages of PLC development include working in small groups to learn structures and strategies to use, such as team norms, collaborative think tools, protocols for looking at student work, etc. Mid stages include honing skills in collaborative action research and data analysis. PLCs learn to develop S.M.A.R.T. goals, utilize protocols for looking at student work, and conduct action research. Late stages include building a culture of ongoing generative thinking, data dependence, and professional learning across an entire organization. IDE Corp. provides consultative professional development in this area, which includes staff development workshops and ongoing support through coaching.
